Asbestos Abatement
This area is the prime section of the Crest operation. Asbestos Abatement collectively encompasses solutions to all matters concerning asbestos containing materials (ACMs). Removal is still the most likely action considered with asbestos since this results in a permanent solution to the problem.
A less expensive option is to encapsulate ACMs, which can be undertaken by a variety of techniques. When considering this option though, it is important to remember that the asbestos is still present (albeit rendered safe by encapsulation) and that future works may disturb the material. In due course therefore it may still be necessary to have the material removed.
Removal is consequently the most cost effective long term solution to the problem of ACMs on your premises.
Contaminated Land Clearance
Due to the result of Britain¹s industrial past and also occasional substandard demolition works, land contaminated by asbestos can still be encountered.
In the past, Crest have been called on to remove many hundreds of tonnes of building debris and earth because of this very problem.
Waste Packaging / Disposal
This can involve call outs from local Councils to remove fly-tipped waste, but can sometimes be far more extensive.
In 2004 Crest (in partnership with a major UK waste Company) undertook the repackaging / disposal of some 2000 tonnes of asbestos waste produced on MoD Cyprus Army / RAF establishments all waste being returned to the UK for disposal.
Surveying
Crest are able to undertake asbestos surveys all fully in accordance with HSE document MDHS 100. Since the implementation of Regulation 4 of the Control of Asbestos at Work Regulations 2002, the demand for undertaking both 'Type 2' and 'Type 3' asbestos surveys has been high.
Crest work only in conjunction with highly experienced independent Surveyors and are able to provide detailed reports usually within a period of two weeks from receipt of an instruction.
Industrial Cleaning And Contaminated Dust Removal
Crest are able to utilise their expertise in working with asbestos to also offer solutions to other hazardous dust problems.
Lead, cadmium and chromium are some of the dusts that Crest have been called on to remove and
so make workplace locations safe for occupation.
Ventilation Hygiene
Most modern buildings rely on mechanical ventilation to provide acceptable working conditions. More often than not it is likely that since installation the systems have never been inspected or cleaned.
Various health hazards can result from dirty ventilation systems. Crest are able to provide a comprehensive duct cleaning and ventilation hygiene service.
Re-instatement Works
There is often a demand for replacing asbestos materials with non-hazardous substitutes upon completion of an asbestos removal operation.
Asbestos is found in many forms of building materials e.g. ceiling tiles, partitioning, roofing, insulation and fire stops to name but a few. Crest are able not just to remove the asbestos, but also to re-instate the material with a safe equivalent.
Ceilings can therefore be installed, pipes re-lagged etc all as part of the Crest service.
Plant Dismantling/Decontamination
Crest can be called on to solve problems of plant (e.g. ventilation systems) contaminated by asbestos or other dangerous dusts.
The answer maybe decontamination or sometimes dismantling of the plant and subsequent disposal.
